Thanks, Darryl.

Yesterday we were driving and listening to some country tunes on the radio; Sundays are the day they play a few hours worth of country on the AFN station.

Anyway, a song by Darryl Worley came on and I really enjoyed a few lines of the lyrics. This was before we found out Dan would definitely be stuck in port for a few more days depending on a tropical storm that was brewing. Here's a few lines from his song "Sounds Like Life To Me":

"Sounds like life to me plain old destiny
Yeah the only thing for certain is uncertainty
You gotta hold on tight just enjoy the ride
Get used to all this unpredictability
Sounds like life"

It was a good reminder for me that nothing is ever for certain, something I have had to learn rather quickly since becoming of the wife of someone in the military. It is good for me, I suppose, to be continually reinforced that I can't micromanage everything and know what is going to happen and when, right down to the second.

So anyway, Dan was supposed to start heading back yesterday but now they're not. Which is okay with me, I'd rather him be safe in a port in mainland than out on the ocean during an angry storm. He was supposed to get here before my Mom but now she'll get here, first.

I haven't even started going through the pictures I took for her six month post. She's not smiling in any of them -- it was that kind of a day for her. I hope to maybe work on them tonight after finishing my cogpsyc test but we'll see how tired I am.
