A beary special 6 month old.

Better late than never, yeah? Yeah.

I don't even know where to begin as I feel that she has changed so much during her fifth month; even moreso than she has other months. I don't feel as if I've documented everything well enough because I'm sitting here, stumped, thinking, "What has she learned this month? Did she not do that as a 4 month old?"
Ms. Big Eyes.

She started eating "solid" foods the day she turned five months old, or the day after. So far she's sampled avocado, bananas, two different types of squash, green beans, and pears. Squash is her favorite. She's also had a few teensy tiny pieces of wheat bread but that isn't a regular staple to her milk & pureed food diet.
Baby & her special bear.

She hasn't attempted crawling but that could be because she's simply content with how she gets around...by rolling everywhere. She hadn't rolled much before five months but now she's rolling e-v-e-r-y-w-h-e-r-e. She'll be put in the middle of the rug and then end up under the entertainment center at Krissi's house, or under the coffee table.

She's sitting up great unassisted now. When Dan left, just a few days after she turned five months, she was sitting up okay-ish. Propped up in the corner of the couch she was great but we didn't trust her to sit by herself on the tatami mats downstairs. Now she's doing it all by herself though she has fallen and bonked her head a few times.

At her six month appointment she was 18 pounds & some change and between 26-27 inches. She was in the 90th percentile for her weight and in the 80th percentile for her height and head circumference.

She loves to study faces and will gently touch your face when you're close to her. She'll even lean in for a "kiss", which she was doing before Dan left, but she's doing it much more frequently now.

Little Miss does better drinking of a cup than she does her sippy; with the soft-spouted sippies she just likes to chew on them, thus getting water everywhere. Her skills are a tad more refined when drinking from a little cup.

She has always enjoyed bathtime but now she really likes to take her time, soak, and play with her toys. If her hands are full, she tries to pick up the other toy with her mouth. That causes her to come up sputtering but it is pretty darn cute.

She made her first baby friend this past Sunday at a Pampered Chef party. Kayla was 18 months old and enjoyed touching her nose, then Evelyn's. When Evelyn tried to touch her in return, she fell over on the couch trying to get away from her. Haha. They enjoyed themselves and had a screeching contest. I think Evelyn won.
You can see little wisps of her hair! Yeehaw, it is growing. :)

She's become even more vocal since the last monthly update. She's getting good at a few consonant-vowel combinations. My favorite? "Ma-ma-ma-ma." Be still, my heart.  As I mentioned in the previous paragraph, screeching is also the norm. She definitely likes to be heard.
The day we took the pictures this is pretty much how she felt...all day.

She's wearing some 3-6mo onesies yet, though most of her stuff is 6mo. Footed jammies have to be at least 6mo and she is fitting into one 9mo jumper. I don't know if she is broad-shouldered or what but getting her arms in and out of some Carter's jumpers (Osh-Kosh too) is a cumbersome task. Geez. She's worn one 12mo onesie and a 12mo tshirt but they were too big. Looked darn cute in them, though.
This is her pensive look.

The day after she turned 6 months she made the transition to her room. Our little baby is sleeping in her crib now. Well, to be honest she starts out the night in her crib but anywhere between 12-5am I bring her to bed with me. I moved the glider into her room but I end up falling asleep. I'm scared I'll drop her. While Dan was gone she slept with me and she's an even bigger bed hog than Dan and Toby combined. How does that work?
