I'm 85-90% positive that Little Miss Evelyn smiled at me this afternoon. It wasn't a smile-in-your-sleep and it wasn't a brief "gas"-related smile. It may have been a drawn-out gas related smile but I'm more inclined to think it was a special smile for her Mama. She kept smiling in her sleep when I'd say "earmuffs" yesterday but that seems to be purely coincidental. This seemed real.
I'm not 100% sure, though, but I just had to write about it...in the off chance I forget what day I think I saw her first true smile.
In other news, she was awfully fussy last night from about 5pm until midnight. Poor little lady probably had a tummy ache. I was up in our bedroom fast asleep until about 8:30pm and then I took charge over Ms. Fussypants while Grandma and Grandpa got a reprieve. Dan settled in on the couch for the long haul with me even though he had been listening to her wail for the last three hours while I was blissfully snoozing upstairs.
She had a brief bout with fussiness this evening after her bath as well but Grandpa has her nice and settled. Hopefully she's on her way to dreamland right as I type this.
I can't wait to write about Grandma and Grandpa's trip and all the things we've been doing. I won't get around to writing it until Friday or after, though. I want to soak up all the time with them that I can! The only interruption of visiting that will be occurring is the time I have to dedicate to finals week. Booooo. Almost over, though! :)
Oh. You may be wondering why I'm updating the blog right now instead of spending time with them. I was checking on the Haneda International Airport website to see where I can inquire about lost items as Grandpa lost his sunglasses, likely in Tokyo. I emailed Narita Int'l Airport, another airport in Tokyo, but I found out today they flew into Haneda. No wonder the Narita Airport didn't have his sunglasses!
I've made the decision that we'll be featuring a Japanese word of the week starting next week sometime. That way future visitors can know some helpful (hopefully!) Japanese terms and I can work on my very limited vocabulary at the same time. If you are a reader that isn't planning on visiting then you can just be along for the ride and impress your friends with the Japanese words or phrases you know! :)
Until later this week...sayonara! :) Come back towards the end of the week to see an outpouring of photos from their visit and of course, tons of Little Miss Evelyn!
OH -- how is the blizzard back home? YIKES! I'm almost kind of bummed I'm missing it. Kind of. I heard that the snow made the Metrodome roof collapse? Wow.
I'm following you now too! Your little lady is so beautiful- I'm excited to get to know you guys more through your blog!
