Our Thanksgiving.

Before I share the details of our Thanksgiving, how was your Thanksgiving? How did you celebrate? I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. We were thinking of all of our family and friends back home. :) The following day, which was Thanksgiving back in the States, we were able to Skype with Dan's side of the family and later with my mom, step-dad, and baby sister.

The wee hours of Thanksgiving morning were spent at the Emergency Room for Evelyn. Upon discharge we were told to bring her in for various reasons, one being projectile vomiting. Well, I was pretty sure she projectile vomited around 1:00AM after eating. At that time Dan was awake and while we weren't sure what to do, we called and took her in.

She's okay! She's okay, she's okay, she's okay. The diagnosis? She needs to burp. The doctor was very kind and said she is very healthy. He found a gas bubble by just tapping on her belly with his fingers. I said that she doesn't really burp and he responded with, "All babies burp." When we saw the nurse on Monday she said that breastfed babies don't need to burp as much as bottle-fed babies and if she wasn't burping not to worry about it. So I'd give burping a little try and when she didn't burp, I'd lay her back down.

Well, we're really vigilant with burping now. We are very thankful it wasn't anything serious and was fortunately just a parenting error.

Once we got home, Miss Evelyn was wide awake until five or six in the morning. After she finally hit the hay I slept in until 10:00 or 11:00. Dan made me a chocolate chip pancake for breakfast. :)

Around 2PM we went to the Air Force base to meet with the couple that we were spending the day with. We then followed them to our hosts' home. They were a friendly couple with two young girls, one in sixth grade and one in fourth grade. The host was amazed at how soundly Evelyn sleeps and tried to wake her up...to no avail. She was wide awake later that night around 1AM, of course. Silly little lady doesn't know her nights and days yet.

It was very nice to have a home cooked meal. The company was very nice too even though I was envisioning us having a Thanksgiving celebration with just the four of us (Toby included). Of course the company didn't hold a candle to being able to spend the holiday with family but it was very nice nonetheless.
