Granny's birthday.

Halloween was my Granny's birthday, so in honor of her, I am sharing this photo of us. I have a lot of great memories with her, and I loved spending holidays at her house with my brother, Dad, Aunt, Uncle, and cousins. She is the reason why the Golden Girls is one of my favorite shows.

Whenever I cut up cheese from a rectangular block for Evelyn, it stirs up memories of my Granny cutting cheese for me. She'd use a paring knife and cut thin slices into a plastic, translucent bowl. I can't get my cheese slices that thin, but maybe it is because I don't have the patience.

When I was little and my Dad would come get us for a weekend, we often went to my Granny's house. I always slept in the bed with her, and my brother and Dad slept elsewhere. I can't even remember if they shared a bed, or if Zach slept in the room where Aaron & Megan slept when we'd all came to visit. I wasn't particularly concerned with where they slept - I was just happy to be sleeping in Granny's bed, on the side closest to the wall. We'd stay up late, watch TV, and talk. She always had the covers just right, she was particular about that.

I remember hoping that Evelyn would be born around 37 weeks, on Halloween, so she could share a birthday with Granny.

Three cheers for Granny and her birthday, even though she is no longer around to celebrate with us.  :) I miss her.
