So after much stressing and a Skype phone call to the agency we booked the tickets through, we discovered we could not change our tickets. Cue panic, because well ... flights from Okinawa to the States and back are obscenely expensive. Obscenely. I decided I'd try to call American Airlines and see if I could change Dan's ticket and...
...I could! I spent about 30 minutes on the phone with a representative but she was able to help me switch his ticket and we had to pay less than $200 for the change. Evelyn and I will be leaving on Saturday, and Dan will end up leaving next Wednesday. It is a bummer it had to work out that way, but at least we will be able to fly back together.
When we flew to the States this past winter, Evelyn wasn't walking yet, so it wasn't hard wrangling her. On our way back to Okinawa, she had begun walking and was less happy about not being able to use her new-found walking skills. I'm unsure how it will be this weekend but I have plenty of tools in my keep-Evelyn-busy arsenal. Bring it on, international flight. Bring. It. On.
In other news, I said I'd share videos from Typhoon Bolaven so here, many days later, are two.
