Flowers.

Our neighbor on the corner is often out in the early evenings, working on his yard. All of the neighbors on our block have little matchbox yards but they really showcase their small space with beautiful flowers and plants. I think our little yard is likely the biggest yard on the street and unfortunately, the most plain.

Perhaps I should get a few little pots and some flowers to make our yard more aesthetically pleasing. I should likely start with some succulents - as those are the only plants I have ever been able to keep alive for an extended period of time. Keeping Jess' plant (I think it was a fern but I truly have no idea) alive for three weeks this spring does not count towards my track record.

Evelyn had a lot of fun picking up the petals that had floated down and putting them in the gaps in the cement, that lead down to the drainage system. Perhaps she could help be my little gardening assistant!

Okay, these are weeds, but they are pretty weeds.

Oh - one quick story about gardening and my brown-thumb. When I was in high school (or early college, I can't remember) my Mom & step-Dad went out of town. They asked me to water the flowers and the garden. I watered the flowers and the garden, and managed to keep them all alive.

I also managed to do some weeding while they were gone, and I was sure that my Mom would be uber impressed. Unfortunately when they came home, it was discovered that I had weeded some flowers that hadn't bloomed yet. Oops!
