Here are a few things that I've been enjoying lately:
"Suits", a show on the USA network. I'm sure many people in the States know the show, but I wouldn't have known about it if not for a friend on Twitter last summer. We watched an episode or two last summer but never really got into it. Dan and I have finished the first season so far since he's been home, and we're anxiously awaiting the second episode of the second season. Anyone else watch Suits?
Since I mentioned Twitter in the first bullet, I have to mention it in the second as well. I recently came upon a gem in Twitterland. It is called Honest Toddler, and there is a Honest Toddler blog as well. Some of them I honestly laugh out loud because they remind me of Evelyn. Here are a few examples that I find to be funny...found on Honest Toddler's twitter, username @HonestToddler.
"Just woke up from my nap. Didn't get enough sleep. Cranky. Gonna need up
with no eye contact/conversation for the rest of the day."
"Waiting until my mom has finished working/cleaning like a crazy person and is about to relax before waking up from my nap."
"Toddler Tip: Either eat next to nothing or a startlingly large portion fit for a wildebeest. There is no in between."
"Why is the iPad wet? Cause I licked it LOL!!!"
Some I have personally retweeted because they spoke to my toddler-mom soul are as follows:
"Sitting on the couch with no pants on, sippin' on apple juice. Laaaaaid baaaack. With my mind on my Elmo and my Elmo on my mind."
"Parents trying to sneak out of your room after tapping your back for only 30 seconds. Five minute MINIMUM. #toddlerproblems"
"You want to stay up until past midnight? That's your choice. See you at dawn. - Every Toddler"
"Don't wanna clooooose my eyes, don't want to faaaaaall asleep cause I'd miss you Elmo and I don't want to misss a thaaang"
"Toddler Tip: When you're tired of being held just shift your weight and try to dive headfirst toward the ground without warning."
"What do my parents even do while I'm sleeping? Besides eat all my Goldfish crackers (yeah I noticed)."
One day while driving and listening to NPR on the American AM station here, I was listening to a review about a band called the Okee Dokee Brothers. I was half-listening and half-not but was listening enough to want to tell Jess and Dan about the band later. I explained that they were from Minnesota, and were called the "Okie Dokie Brothers". Jess likes to make fun of my Minnesotan-South Dakotan roots, and okie dokie is something that I happen to say. Anyway, I was thrilled to hear a band called the Okee Dokee Brothers. Dan had heard the same review and informed me that the band is a children's band. Okay, so I missed that part, but I still liked their songs. I also liked the stories about them canoeing down the Mississippi, because I canoed from Brainerd to the Twin Cities in junior high on a camp trip. I downloaded a few songs for Evelyn, which I honestly enjoy myself. Here is a YouTube video featuring their song, "Can You Canoe", found on their website. Enjoy - let me know what you think!
