Jet lag, you are awful.

Gee whiz, I forgot how awful jet lag was. It didn't seem this bad when we flew over to Okinawa but I think that is largely because I didn't have someone else to care for. If I wanted to sleep, I could sleep. There was no one else's circadian rhythms that were messed up that I had to tend to.

I think we're slowly getting used to good ol' central standard time, though. For instance, last night Evelyn went to bed before 9pm (I think) and slept until 11:30pm. When I looked at the clock, I thought, "Are you kidding me?" but then decided to use it to my advantage. The first few nights she'd go to sleep sometime after 10pm, and wake up around 12-1:45am, staying awake until 5 or 6am.

Last night she woke up at 11:30pm and after admitting defeat that she would not just lay down and go back to sleep, I went out to the family room and rocked her. Rocked her and tried to get her to sleep, didn't let her get down and play (she was not happy about that). By 2am, she was zonked. I, however, had sadly gotten my second wind and was awake until after 6am. But I digress. We're slowly but surely improving.

As I type this, she is zonked out. We met some friends for lunch and then did some shopping. She fell asleep on the way to lunch (a 20-25 minute drive) but woke up when I pulled her from her carseat. She ate some, played with one of my best friend's almost-4-year-old daughter, and wiggled around. She was trying to recline in the cart at Wal-Mart and kept yawning these big, exaggerated yawns. I knew she'd pass out in the car. And she did - score!

Anyhoo, I figured that since she is asleep, I would share some pictures. I remembered to bring my camera home on this trip with me but you know what I forgot? My battery charger. Argh. Anyone know where I could buy another? It is for a Nikon D3100.

Not the happiest little bear in her winter coat.

zooom, off she goes.

Trying to make her escape.

In other news, I'm pretty sick. I got sick (pukey sick) on the flight from Tokyo to DFW but had already gotten a sore throat and the sniffles before we left Okinawa. Evelyn had an upper respiratory infection the week before we left, then four shots two days before we left, and I had my flu shot two days before we left as well. She's still snotty-nosed and has a little cough but seems to feel much better than she was before we left.

I, on the other hand, have broke out with three coldsores. THREE. I get them whenever I'm extra exhausted, sick, or stressed. Well over the course of the past week I have been all three, so I guess one coldsore for each stressor? I don't know. Major bummer though. I am starting to feel a bit better, so that's good.
