For some reason, I thought today was Monday. I don't know why; perhaps because it is the 1st of September (WHOA!) and the first of the month has to be on the first day of the week, right? Well yes, I guess, according to my brain. The people I interacted with this morning probably thought I was weird when I responded to their "Have a good day" with, "Have a good week!"
I could be goofed up with my days because one day this week we stayed in all day and did nothing but snuggle. Why? 'Cause poor Schmoopy was sick with her second ever fever. The first day of the fever she only wanted to lay in my arms, nurse, and drift in and out of sleep. The second day, yesterday, she wasn't nearly as snuggly and twice as more whiny.
Yesterday I noticed she had a rash so my Grandma and I played Doctor together on Skype and decided it was probably roseola. This morning the rash looked different and some bumps looked blister-like and I noticed some sores on the top of her mouth (which explains the nursing strike last night at bed time). I called the nurse and...
Evelyn has hand foot and mouth disease. Today is the third day and her fever is gone but she is covered in bumps that look ouchy. I was relieved to know it wasn't a serious issue, though. I was ready to take her into the ER and wait for hours to get an answer. I'm one of those Moms whose panicked revelation is, "We need to go to the ER!" I do not always act on my instinct but yeah...
In other news, I got an email from Dan yesterday. It was a very nice, unexpected surprise. I haven't been able to talk to him since he left for this work up and the short, paragraph-long email made my whole day. He emailed to tell me to add his friend's Skype. A strange person tried to add our Skype name the day before his email and I denied it because I wasn't sure who it was. Well, oops, it was Dan on his friend's Skype.
So those are the two big things in our lives right now: Evelyn has HFMD and I got an email from Dan. What's going on in your lives this week?
Love the title of this post. Diseased + an email. Classic.
ReplyDeleteWe're having a great week as well - Cody's mom came and stayed with us and my mom is coming for a girls weekend! Plus, the puppies are so playful right now.
Hope Miss Moo gets better soon. Poor baby girl.
I had hand, foot and mouth disease as a baby, too. I hope E starts feeling better ASAP!
ReplyDeleteI have one or two times told a customer to "have a good weekend" on Tuesdays. Shows that I really, really want the week to be over before it's even started.
