Before my Mom left, Evelyn made a few attempts to get to where she was going on her hands and knees instead of her easy go-to solution: army crawling. She'd slide one knee, then the other, then drop down to her belly to be more efficient.
Well, not anymore. On Tuesday I went to one of the elementary schools to help a good friend arrange her classroom and Evelyn crawled (quickly!) about three or four feet.
Now that she knows she can get somewhere that way, she's attempting it more and more. The tatami mats are slippery and we often have her in pants in the day because her chubby little legs get cold from the A/C so it takes real effort to get anywhere.
This morning I took her out with me while I refilled Toby's water dish and filled his bowl up with breakfast. While I was refilling his water at the spigot Little Miss Hotshot got in the crawling position and made a bee line for the dog food.
She's also begun getting to her feet while leaning on her hands. Her downward dog position looks better than mine -- maybe we could do yoga together.
Not only is she crawling and getting up on all fours but she is also learning she can hold onto the coffee table and shuffle her way across it to reach what she needs. She's such a smart little cookie.
Here are a couple photos of our girl showing off her moves. Enjoy!

I love how proud of herself she looks! As well she should! Look out parents . . . here she comes . . . and goes . . . and goes!!!
