Today our little rascal is four months old -- wow! It has gone so quickly and I feel as if she has changed so much between the beginning of her third month and the beginning of her fourth. The only thing that hasn't changed is that I am still several pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight. Oh well, I'll get rid of them soon enough - I got a pretty sweet baby out of the deal so I can't complain.
I told my Grandma on Skype this morning that I'd have her "beary special" four month post up by tonight (so by Friday AM in the States) but it is getting late (ha - only 10:36) and I'm as snug as a bug in a rug in our bed. Therefore her four month post will be a day or two late, aka whenever I make the time to sit at my laptop.
I can't make her four month appointment until April. Why? Well because the family practice clinic we go to was booked for the rest of March but only has their schedule three weeks in advance. So when I called it was too late to get in but not late enough to make an appointment for early next month. Ugh - you definitely don't have that probably at civilian clinics!
Apparently we can do a walk-in for her shots but I'd rather just get them done when she actually has an appointment because while one person may tell you over the phone you can just walk in, you may get there and be told differently. No thank you.
I was wondering what her height and weight were though so we measured here at home. I did the trick where I stepped in the scale and took mental note of the number then hopped on with a nakey Schmoop (all the while hoping she wouldn't puddle on me) and figuring the difference. We don't have a yardstick so I got some scotch tape, laid her on the couch and put one piece at her head and the other at her heels. Then I got out our handy dandy toolkit for the measuring tape and measured that way. Come to think of it, the tape is still on the couch...
Anyway, she's 15lbs even and 25in long. Whoa, you grow, girl! The rest of the details will come with the official post.
In other news, our American washer seems to have broke. It'll fill with water but when the spin cycle comes on, it'll make noise as if it is thinking about working and then shuts itself off. Short version: our washer is filled with water and we dont know what's wrong with it.
You may notice how I pointed out it is an American washer. See now if it was our Japanese dryer that was on the fritz we could call the housing agency and they would have someone out to fix it tonight or tomorrow. I'm not sure if they know of anyone who deals with American appliances though; plus it isn't really the housing agency's problem to deal with since we had to borrow one from our government.
Thankfully I have been doing plenty of laundry the past few days so we won't run out of things to wear but the poopy (pun) part is the last load I intended to do today was Ev's diapers. We don't have any clean ones left and only had five disposables on hand so I had to run to the PX to get more. Also good news: we live across from a laundromat. If the situation isn't fixed by mid next week I can take our clothes there. Her diapers will have to wait, though.
While at the PX she and I did a little extra shopping. My favorite "extra" we bought were some bunny ears; she'll be able to grow into them but she looks darn cute now...when they stay on her head. See?
By the way those are the first pictures I took with my new camera that arrived today. I feel overwhelmed by the complexities of it but can't wait to fiddle with it tomorrow when there is some good natural light. Not only did my camera (+ case) come but "Stepbrothers" came via Netflix, too. We've already watched it twice - it is super hilarious to us.
I hope everyone has a marvelous weekend! See you again soon.
Oh, one more thing. It has been asked at least once: will military personnel and their dependents be encouraged to evacuate the island? The short answer is no though it is the case on mainland. Longer answer: they are keeping an eye on the situation and monitoring the air for any radiation that may be pushed down this way. If the situation changes and radiation is detected, they will let us know. Then in turn, I will let you (family mostly but friends too) know.

Hey girl! Um, I just found your blog by total accident! Small blog world. Love it. Come by the barn and see me (and the horses) soon, ok?!
ReplyDeleteHaha heyyyyy! :) We were planning on coming out yesterday to help clean up but we were out running errands and time got away from us. It has been too long since I've been out there - Dan has needed the car to drive a group of guys to training up north but now that's over so I'm hoping he and I can work out a tentative schedule so I can get out there. I definitely miss it! :)
ReplyDeleteWhen do you two leave for China? Sooo exciting!
