Two things that have caught my eye this week:

Though I actually heard of Spokeo last week through an Internet forum I belong to I did not look into more until this week. The advertisement you first see when you land on the website is, "Not your Grandmother's phonebook", insinuating it is much better and beyond that.

I would not say it is better than a phonebook from generations ago but I would agree it goes far beyond a normal phonebook. By searching someone's email or full name you can easily find which social networks they belong to, who is part of their household, their approximate income, and the approximate value of their home. Oh, it may list some of their hobbies, as well!

I definitely urge anyone who reads this to look themselves up and then request Spokeo remove the material, whether it is correct or not. I'm unsure of the best way to go about doing this but I think the best option would be to email them and include the link to the information that you would like to be removed.

Hey, maybe this is old news to most of you. If it is I hope you have already "Spokeo-ed" yourself, emailed them to request they remove the information, and then checked back a few days later to make sure they followed through on their word.

We don't have cable so my news comes through the Internet; sometimes (okay, a lot of times) I neglect to check my news app so I'm a bit behind the times. I figured I would share about Spokeo here in case other people are behind the times, too. Or maybe your local news channel or news website of interest hasn't touched on Spokeo. Either way, it is up here to grab people's attention. Be sure to tell your friends and family to see if they are listed on Spokeo!

Second, I came across Amy Chua's article "Why Chinese Mothers are Superior" last night after stumbling across it on another blog, Silver Spoons, Paper Plates. I guess I was behind the times on this too because Ms. Chua was recently on The Today Show. Did anyone watch it? What are your thoughts on the article? How many individuals do you think will buy her new book now that they have read the article? Do you think the article was a marketing ploy or something else entirely? I'm interested to hear your thoughts!

In other news, Dan had a busy day at work today but was home earlier than he has been all week! The morning started off a little stressful with a screw coming out of his glasses and falling onto our bathroom rug when he didn't have the time to be combing through it and still be able to get out the door in time. Raechel to the rescue! Ha, just kidding -- more like giant-LED-flashlight to the rescue. It took me more time to get the screw back into the glasses than it did to find the darn thing...not to mention my grubby prints all over his glasses when all was said and done!

After the missing screw near-fiasco he still managed to get to work on time though he left a little later than he had planned. By the end of this week he'll be able to give up these grueling extra duties to a guy who is coming back from leave. Even though he'll be relieved of these specific leadership type tasks he still has a bunch of other items on his metaphorical plate. He handles the daily stressors really well; if it were me I think I would be a major Grumpy Gills to be in charge of so many different things at once.

Three cheers to being in the tail-end of our week, the weekend is within sight! Happy Wednesday, everyone!
