If you notice the time of this entry you may come to the conclusion that Evelyn didn't sleep through the night. This is correct, she did not; it is all good, though, two nights of no middle-of-the-night feedings are great. Some parents have babies that don't sleep through the night until they are closer to a year old so I am not complaining!
I just had to blog about the amusing incident in case my memory is somehow altered by the time we wake up for the day.
She was being a squirmy little worm for some time but would have times when she'd be stll, seemingly back to sleep, so I left her alone. Once she let out a little cry I picked her up and laid her on our bed. I wanted to change her diaper first so I unswaddled her as fast as I could and was switching the wet diaper for the clean one when I stole a glance at her.
Her head was near my pillow and she had turned her head because, darn it, she was hungry and she was hungry now. She was attempting to suckle the corner of my pillow and successfully got the corner of it into her mouth. By the way she was craning her neck while opening & shutting her mouth like a little fishy, you'd assume she thoughthe was the real deal.
She was not easily fooled, however, and gave a warning cry. While giggling quietly to myself I swaddled her back up and fed her, lest her piercing cries cut into Dan's deep slumber. She has a tummy full of milk now so I suppose it is time to go back to sleep.
Gosh, our kid is too cute. Trying to nurse off of a pillow - silly baby!
Hah! Rae, I love this post. Sooooo good. G was caught confused in this act several times when she was growing up. I love the latest picture of Evelyn, sooo cute! I think my favorites are with Toby, although pics of yourself and baby are pretty good too!
ReplyDeleteKaty - Babies are so silly, I love it. :) Yay for switching G's crib to a bed - WOW! I can't believe she's so grown up!
