As I mentioned in my last weekly update with Cora, we went to the zoo this past weekend. Evelyn has been wanting to go for quite some time (ahem, since her Dad took her last, which was about a month and a half ago), and I kept saying, "Soon." Then she said she wanted to ride the elephants, ostriches, and horses at the zoo, and I told her, "You can't ride the elephants and ostriches, but you can ride the horsies."
That renewed an even greater interest in the zoo, and soon it seemed it was all she could talk about. Going to the zoo with Amber and Baby Dec, and riding the horses. Seeing the monkey that clapped its hands and scared her. Etc etc etc, over and over. Her intensity is cute but it can be draining. I asked on a Facebook page that is centered toward life on Okinawa when the pony rides were, and how much. Much to my dismay they are only on Saturdays, Sundays, and weekends. We intended on going to the zoo last Thursday with Amber and Baby Dec, but instead ventured to Yomitan and visited the Yomitan Pottery Village. It was so darn hot (not that it was any cooler on Sunday, but I digress), so we decided to go do something else instead.
Even though we live such a short distance from the zoo, I wanted to drive because it was so hot. Evelyn had a different idea though, and she wanted to walk. So walk we did. Here are some pictures from our afternoon -- we got to the zoo around 4PM and although it was cooler than 11AM (when I originally wanted to go), we were all still very hot and sweaty.
If you're wondering where the photos from her pony ride are (the pony ride was the first thing on our agenda), no fear! I'll post them soon, but I feel like they deserve their very own entry because it is just so darn
cute.
