No picture this week - sorry!
Today is: May 29, 2013
How far along: 24 weeks 4 days
Total weight gain: -
Baby is the size of: A canteloupe! She's likely somewhere between 10.5 to 11.8 inches long, and anywhere from 12.7 to 20.8 ounces (same as last week).
What's going on with the babe: Her skin is more opaque, and has a pink-ish hue now that her capillaries have formed.
What's going on with the mama: Last week, I complained about my allergies being out of control. I went and bought some Zyrtec and they are much more manageable now (thank goodness). I was on Claritin for allergies from junior high until late high school (when I decided I didn't need it anymore), but it just wasn't cutting it.
I definitely have "pregnancy brain" now, if I didn't already have it before. I don't think my brain ever went back to normal (memory wise) after having Evelyn but it is definitely worsening again. On Sunday I got all the way to one of the gates of the Marine Corps base by our house and realized I didn't have my ID. Then on Monday, I got all the way to Araha Beach for our Stroller Warrior work out and realized I didn't have Toby's leash. These are just two examples.
Baby is a: a girl.
Maternity clothing: Some - mostly jeans. I can still wear my normal tops but wear maternity tops sometimes.
Sleep: I'm sleeping very well though feel as if I could always use a bit more.
Movement: She had a few quiet days this past week which prompted me to Google, 'Can Zyrtec make your baby move less?'. The day after Googling that, she was back to normal. Go figure. ;)
Cravings/Aversions: Craving taco rice, sushi, and chocolate chip pancakes.
Symptoms:
-Braxton Hicks contractions, or "practice" contractions. I never had these with Evelyn, or never noticed if I did (same answer as last week).
How this pregnancy is different than the first: BX contractions (same answer as last week).
How the big sister was this week: She was pretty good, but developed a fever on Monday evening. She tossed and turned most of the night, and was just miserable. We spent most of the day Tuesday cuddled on the chair, alternating between Tylenol and Motrin when it was time. She didn't even want to finish a Popsicle, and she fell asleep in the chair at 11:45. Her fever was ranging between 100.8-103.4, once late Monday night it was 104 something. Our thermometer is a little touchy, though. I think yesterday's temp averaged around 102 for most of the day.
Today she seems to be feeling better, which is great. Earlier in the weekend, we went to the mini zoo / egg farm (she asks to go at least once a day), and then on Monday we spent a few hours in the afternoon at the beach, which she really enjoyed.
The best moment(s) of this past week:
-Our new stroller came in the mail, and we got it put together on Saturday. We took it for a short spin down the block, and it moves like a dream.
I'm looking forward to:
- Stroller Warriors on Friday, depending on the weather.
- On Saturday we're pooling together all of the stuff we (as Stroller Warriors) no longer want, and are participating in a flea market. The money that we make will go toward a member of SWO whose Grandma became very ill while visiting, and had to go to a hospital off base. (Two different ones, actually.) Her insurance did not cover anything because she did not have international coverage, so now the family is responsible for over $7,000 in medical bills.
