Cora: Week 21.

Last week (Thursday) - 20 weeks 5 days.

Today is: May 7, 2013

How far along: 21 weeks 3 days

Total weight gain: -

Baby is the size of: A pomegranate! She's around 10.5 inches long, and 12.7 ounces.

What's going on with the babe: She's producing meconium (which hopefully she won't pass during labor, like her older sister did)

What's going on with the mama: One of my best friends left on Saturday. Tons of people know this already but hey, it is what is going on with me. Not only did one of my best friends leave, but Evelyn's best friend in the whole world left. It was super hard, and I was pretty mopey all weekend. Dan was very supportive and loving, even when I was grumpy (thank you, Dan!).

Baby is a: Still a girl, as far as we know. ;)

Maternity clothing: I bought a couple maxi dresses a week or two ago at the PX, and I don't know why I didn't do so earlier! I want to go buy more. They are more comfortable than maternity clothes - I don't know how that is possible, haha. I did wear a pair of my regular, pre-pregnancy jeans on Saturday and again yesterday, which was gratifying.

Sleep: No complaints. :) Evelyn has been taking long naps since this weekend, and I have also been indulging. It has been wonderful.

Movement: Tons!

Cravings/Aversions: When I went to the commissary on Sunday, corn dogs sounded delectable. I had two on Sunday, two yesterday, and now they are gone. Which is fine with me, because hotdogs are generally not appealing to me but in a corn dog...yum. I also want some nachos with jalapenos (the type you can get at a rodeo or fair) but I do not know where to get any here.

I guess corn dogs could almost be an aversion too because yesterday while I was Skyping with my Mom, I pulled them out and bit into one. I didn't let them heat long enough in the oven and I had to put the computer down swiftly and run to the garbage to spit it out. Cold hotdog? Barf.

Symptoms:
-Nausea at night, but that's because I've been managing on about one Zofran a day. Don't feel like wasting one for the later portion of the day.
-Itchy skin, especially my belly.

How this pregnancy is different than the first: I'm more active, and will be getting back into Stroller Warriors with a vengeance now that Jess is gone and I don't need to soak up all the time in the world with her.

How the big sister was this week: She's good. She doesn't understand the concept that Jess and her family have completely left the island, and I imagine it'll take awhile. This weekend (Sunday particularly) she was very fussy, and took a four hour nap, which is unheard of for her. We think it may be a molar or two that was pestering her. She also seems to be having nightmares at night, which is really sad. :(

The best moment(s) of this past week:
- Saturday evening Evelyn went bowling for the first time, and really enjoyed herself. We went down to the MCAS (air station) for another Stroller Warrior's sayonara party. It was great to be surrounded by my Stroller Warriors family, and to have plenty of friends for Evelyn to run around with. I will miss the family that is leaving so much - she is such a joy to be around, and her joyous spirit is contagious.
- Yesterday (Monday) I met up with a friend from Stroller Warriors, and visited with her while Evelyn played with her daughter (who is around 16 months old) and their huge teddy-bear Doberman, Brody.  She recently became certified as a doula through DONA International, and we discussed what a doula does, and how one may or may not be right for our family when the time comes.

I'm looking forward to:
-Our anatomy scan is this coming Friday at 10am!
-Dan may or may not get a 72 (aka a long weekend).
-Birthday party on Saturday for a Mini Stroller Warrior.
