Thank you all for your love and support regarding our big news! We were excited to finally share with everyone. I'll likely start weekly updates at week 16 - which is this upcoming Saturday. I've been feeling pretty good if I have my Zofran. I go in weekly for refills but it really is a miracle drug. Without it, I'd need to drive around with a bucket in my car, and I'd be throwing up at least ten times a day (no exaggeration).
Early last week, Dan left for a work exercise for a little bit. We've been adjusting to being by ourselves and I think I can safely say we are in the swing of things now. I heard from him earlier this week, which was a nice surprise. I likely won't hear from him again until the end of the exercise, as they're going to a more remote area. They'll be roughing it -- two-man tents and all that jazz.
This past week while Dan was gone, the "HSST" (recruiting) list came out. We finally learned when he'll be going to school. He'll leave in October for the school (which is in the States), and will return 8 weeks later when the course is complete. We will then leave Okinawa for our next place of residence though we won't know where we are going until Dan is about half-way through the course. Evelyn, new baby, Toby, and myself have to stay here while he's in school.
We may try to see if Dan can get into an earlier school date. If that works out, then I'd be coming home earlier than him. He'd come back to Okinawa once the class was done, check out of his unit, and then he'd join us in the United States. This option is more complicated than the October class because it involves paperwork that needs lots of signatures that can take several weeks to get signed. Not to mention getting our house all packed up, and then flying home by ourselves.
Although it would be nice to be home, my ideal situation would be to stay out here until December when Dan is done with his class. I'm not ready to leave Okinawa yet, and I'm not particularly excited to leave while 5+ months pregnant with a toddler and a dog. Whatever is meant to be, will be. As of right now, we'll just say that our family will be in Okinawa until the end of December or so. If anything changes, I'll be sure to share details.
This past weekend Evelyn and I did the Lord of the Tengan run. This run was my first 10k last year, and I still love to wear the shirt (is it bad that I am motivated by the shirts?). When I woke up this past Saturday, I had no desire to go. If I hadn't already paid the registration fee, I would've likely stayed home. I went and decided to only run the 5k course. It was nice to get out, and I'm glad I didn't have to run that hilly loop twice. Unfortunately the shirts this year are ugly.
Saturday evening, we went to a "husbandless wives" dinner. Stroller Warriors does them each month for those ladies whose husbands are off island for one reason or another. When Dan was deployed last year, I never went to one. It was a lot of fun, and everyone brought a delicious dish. Evelyn had fun playing with some new friends, and I had some grown-up visiting time.
That's almost all that is new on our end. The rest of our week is kind of packed -- on Thursday we are doing a volunteer event at a local women's & children's shelter, Friday is our SW run and annual Easter egg hunt, and Saturday is the Bushido mud run. Sunday, of course, is Easter. We're planning on going to church, and then having another Easter egg hunt in Jess' yard.
Oh, I did go to a 3D ultrasound last Friday, and the doctor gave me a more than 50% guesstimate of what the baby's sex. That deserves its very own update though - so I will share with everyone tomorrow. I had to wait to spill the beans until Dan was able to know the more-than-50%-likeliness of the baby's sex. Thankfully he was able to read my response to his email, which shared the news. If he wouldn't have been able to check his email, we'd still have to wait a week or more because I would've had to send some snail mail with my friend's husband who is also leaving for the exercise.
Come back tomorrow to find out!
The suspense is KILLIN' me! :) Thanks for the update!
