I'm taking two courses right now, and one of them is about the history of religion in America. We, as Americans, have the right to believe (or not believe) whatever we choose. Our family is a Christian family, although I know not everyone is Christian, and not everyone believes in a higher power.

One of the texts I am reading is called "American Gospel" by Jon Meacham. In the first chapter of the book, there is a great statement that I'd like to share here, before I go on with what I would like to say.

"...the point is that we are all on the same odyssey, if for different reasons. In either case, the story is about moving forward, through the darkness, searching for light. Or at least it should be." -- pg. 18 of Jon Meacham's American Gospel

At the end of June, we found out that my first cousin, Aaron, has been diagnosed with colorectal cancer. Aaron is 30 years old with a beautiful family - his wife, and two young children. He has already had his port put in for his chemotherapy treatments, and has had his first treatment.

I am writing to ask you to please include Aaron and his family in your prayers. If you do not pray, please send healing thoughts his way. Whatever you do or do not believe, I just ask that you send good thoughts to him and his family at this time. We are all on the same odyssey, right?

Thank you for taking the time to read, and thank you for sending prayers /thoughts to him and his family.
