A couple weeks ago, we decided to spend the magnificent, rain-free afternoon at the zoo. For only ¥500 per adult (if the ¥ rate was ¥100 to $1, that'd be only $5.00). The yen rate is not 100 to $1 right now, but it is in the 80s, so that makes for a cheap trip to the zoo. Much better than the cost of going to a big zoo in the United States (the San Diego zoo cost comes to mind).
The Okinawa Zoo is smaller and they don't have much room for the animals, but they do what they can with what they have. We won't go in the summer much, if at all, because I've been told the animals are very lethargic in the heat and high humidity. I don't blame them, I am too.
Here are a few pictures from our adventure.
| After we walked up the big hill to begin our zoo journey, we saw this...a big butt. |
| Then the pretty girl turned around, and we got to see her in all her glory. |
| Do you see her pretty pink bow? She was doing some hedge work. ;) |
| Evelyn and her best bud, Evan. |
| Bird viewing. |
| This hippo really seemed to enjoy the hose. |
| She or he is smirking. Can you see it? |
| The one on the left is stretching, saying konnichiwa to the birds. |
| We're happy ladies. |
| Adults like to be silly too, don'tchaknow. |
| Here's more proof of silliness. |
Do you like going to the zoo? What are your favorite animals?
Haha, is that seriously a bow in her tail??
