Just a man walking his bull, no big deal...

Bull fighting is a popular sport (Is it a sport? What would you call it?) in Okinawa. It isn't the same type of bull fighting you see in Spain, with a matador. In Okinawa, two bulls compete against each other. I haven't been to an arena so I am not 100% sure how it works, but I know for certain it is bull versus bull and not bull versus human.

For the past two and a half weeks Evelyn and I have been doggy sitting for friends. One day earlier this week we were headed to their house, and I saw something on the road to my left that wasn't a car. I did a quick double take and then decided we needed to hustle so I could bring Evelyn down to see him (from a safe distance, of course).

This isn't our first bull-out-on-a-walk sighting but it was the first bull I had seen in that area. I've seen a few bulls in Uruma (they have an arena there) but never down in Chatan.

Once Evelyn and I parked, I put her in the Ergo, grabbed my camera, and started to get down the hill as quickly as I could without jostling her. When we got down to the bottom of the hill I was momentarily bummed because the bull wasn't on the road coming down toward where we were, like I had seen him less than three minutes before.

That's because he was headed up the hill for a good leg work out.
