Firsts: Tractor ride.

Evelyn has done so many "first time" activities during this trip to the Midwest that I have decided I need to start a series. Called "Firsts". Though this trip nearing its end, Evelyn has many more "firsts" to experience. Now when she does a first-time of anything, I can include it in this little series. It will be easy to look back on. Some of Evelyn's "firsts" she has experienced on this trip back to our home area include: first steps, first tooth, first time meeting many relatives, and others. I am blogging, though, to tell you about a really exciting "first" that happened this week. It isn't truly any more exciting than any other "firsts" she has accumulated this week but it is the most fresh in my mind. On Monday Evelyn went on her first tractor ride! This may not be exciting to anyone that resides in a city but it makes my little rural heart happy. Even though I grew up in a rural area, I didn't ride in a tractor until junior high or high school. That is an oddity for this area, I am sure. It was in my friend Jenna's tractor and it almost lulled me to sleep. Anyway. We ate lunch with Dan's sister, her fiance, my Bestest (Jackie), and then went back to Jackie's house after a trip to Wal-Mart. Her Dad took some time out of his day (he was busy working on a silo) to pull the tractor out of the machine shed and take Evelyn for a spin. She really seemed to enjoy it and even waved "bye bye" to me, as if she didn't eevn care she was leaving me in their dust. I would have been offended if it wasn't so exciting.

As you can see in the fourth photo down from the top, the tractor seems to be going backwards. That is because it was. Jackie asked, "Why are they going backward?" I, in all of my infinite farm wisdom (HA - a joke) answered, "Probably because he wants to back into the machine shed." Come to find out Little Miss wasn't the happiest camper with the sun glaring in her eyes on the way back to the house so Dean put it in reverse so the sun stayed out of her eyes. What a spoiled little lady! That was our first exciting "first" of this week but we had an even more exciting second "first" this afternoon. A handful of people know already so if you do, shhhh! If you don't know and would like to find out, you'll have to come back tomorrow or Thursday for the details and pictures.

NOTE: I hope these photos do not appear blurry. I was having some issues with posting photos from my Blogpress app last year but hope I fixed the problem by adjusting the height and width of the photos. If not, I'll remove this post and put it up another time on an actual computer.  Bah, they were blurry so I fixed them.
