Yesterday we went to the library on the base where Dan used to work and checked a few things out. Dan got a book-on-tape about the Pashtu language, a book on economics, and a book about Salvador Dali.
I got a book on haikus, for some inspiration for a project I just started, "Chuck" Season 1 on DVD, "The Lovely Bones" on DVD, and a yoga DVD.
Evelyn got her favorite book, "Puppy Love", again though we had just returned it on Monday and three other books. One is a big yellow book with a monkey on the cover titled "Hug". It is about a little monkey (named Bobo) who sees all the other animals hugging and becomes really bummed that he isn't getting any hugs. Towards the end his Monkey Mommy finds him and gives him a big hug, and all is well in Bobo's world again.
This morning I was finishing up some homework while Dan read Evelyn the "Hug" book. I was a little distracted and continually looked up from my work just to watch Evelyn interact with her Dada. (They are two peas in a pod.) She was standing, holding onto his leg for support, and we learned that she fully understand the idea of the book. How did we know, you may wonder.
Well, she showed us. She hugged sad little Bobo's two dimensional body displayed on the big pages. She also offered a few hugs to other pages of e book, too.
It was so cute.
Seriously so so adorable. Isn't it amazing to start to see the little personalities emerge? I love it.
