I've decided that we're going to go on some family bike rides when Dan comes home (and we have a date that he is leaving California, yeehaw!). I'm trying to decide if we want a bike trailer...
Or a bike seat...
I'm not sure we could even buy a bike seat at any of the BXs on island though I know a bike trailer is available at the Air Force base. I already found her a little helmet -- it is pretty cute.
I think I am leaning toward the bike trailer, I'm just figuring out how we'd transport it with the car. On the bike rack? On the seat next to Ev?
If your family goes on bike rides, what do you have for your kiddo(s)?
We've always used a bike seat and really liked it. It's very portable, you just leave it on your bike when you store it on the rack. I must say, though, that when Belle was 3, we went on vacation in S. Carolina and rented bikes to get around the island. We used a trailer since we were toting around beach supplies as well and it was great! Since she was older, she enjoyed the ride in the trailer and the freedom of it. I'm not sure how you would transport it. Good luck with your search, biking with kids is great family time!!
ReplyDeleteTrailer seat....is my wish....
ReplyDeleteHi Raechel,
ReplyDeleteWe preferred a trailer--it is far more stable than a bike seat. And we were ALWAYS role models in wearing bike helmets. That was Tom's rule: our kids were precious and we were important to them, too. We had a two-seater trailer and our kids read books while we road--fun family times and good exercise. We all still like to bike. Kristin & Tom Pitchford
Rae!
ReplyDeleteWe have used a bike trailer since G was just tiny. We love it. She still uses it at 4 if we're going for long rides. I don't know how long she'd sit in the seat, but she likes the room of the trailer, and naps in there too - which is a major plus!
Agree with Olivia that it's great for toting around extra supplies - cuz goodness knows the kiddos need them.
However, major downfall = transporting it if you don't intend to depart on the bike from home. We make it work.
