A beary special 7 month old.

Evelyn has been seven months old for eleven days and I can only imagine how many new things she'll learn and experience before she's another month older. Her sixth month was full of exciting events and milestones.

She got to go to the airport to pick up her Grandma and meet her for the first time. It was late and though she fell asleep on the way down there, she woke up while we were waiting. It was the first time a stranger asked if they could hold her...I was so flabbergasted that though I was thinking "NO NO NO!" I handed her over. Thankfully she cried and I got her back. After that, her Grandma's plane finally landed and she wasn't too sure what to make of her. She allowed herself to be held for awhile but then decided it was too late and she was too tired for a new experience. The next day she warmed up though and now they are best buds.

Evelyn also got to welcome her Da-da back from his first period of time away from her. Again it was late but she was pretty darn happy -- she just stared at him, in awe.

She's been babbling away and I was super excited when she said "Ma-Ma-Ma" but she's moved onto "Da-Da-Da" now and ba-ba-baaa. She loves to people watch and really seems drawn to Japanese people, particularly women. I think this is because they talk and interact with her whereas most Americans just compliment her to me but don't visit with her.

She has tried lots of new foods -- squash has lost its allure and has been replaced as a favorite by beets. She also tried watermelon in her mesh feeder and really enjoys noshing on bananas with the feeder, too. When we are out and about she will get a nibble of what we are eating, if it is bland. For instance, pieces of my bread from Subway and white rice. She still really enjoys her puffs.

Her sleeping habits had made a little forward progress but we're back to where we started. When she'd wake in the middle of the night before Dan came home I would just bring her to bed with me but didn't feel comfortable doing that anymore. She seemed to be waking up more frequently and I was sick of falling asleep in the glider so one night I just crawled into the crib. She slept like a dream. She sleeps great if she can feel your body heat.

Now she's back in our room though we are working on getting her to sleep in her pack and play.

During her 6th month she discovered that she can get around by pulling herself with her arms and pushing off with her leg. She picked up the pace really quickly and now is zooming around.

A few things she has learned or experienced that I can't quite remember the time frame (if it was during her 6th month or the 11 days she's been 7 months): she's learned how to lower herself from the tatami mats onto the wood floor.

She's still toothless though I think one may make an appearance this month. As for clothes, she can still fit into some 3-6mo onesies but otherwise is in 6-9mo clothes, especially for bottoms.

The first week and a half of her seventh month has been pretty stellar, I can't wait to share all the new things she has already learned. Until then, I will leave you with this great photo of a very happy baby...
