On the way to the AF Base, I told Dan that I kind of hoped she would be scared because it'd make a cute first photo. He said I was a big meanie and I said I only kind of hoped she was.
Once we got near the Exchange the parking lot was fuller than we had ever seen it. We didn't even park in the BX parking lot, we pulled into an adjacent lot. I was convinced that all the people were there to see the Easter Bunny and that there would be a giant line. I was prepared to take a photo of the line as evidence.
Well, that wasn't so. We had to wait behind one person and then it was Evelyn's turn. I told Dan he had to bring her up there because I was suddenly struck with embarrassment but he said "No, this was your idea - you do it!" So I said, "Yeah, I guess...you're right. Give her to me." He unearthed her from the Bjorn and I brought her up to the Easter Bunny.
I hurried her up to the EB and handed our baby over, being sure to not make eye contact with where the eyes of the person really were (behind the Bunny's eyes, right). I was overcome with a creepy feeling ... who knows who was behind that furry outfit. Anyway, once we were there I was suddenly afraid that Evelyn would be terrified and I felt like it'd break my little heart. So much for the "hilarious" photo opportunity I had thought of on the way over.
Evelyn wasn't even phased. I don't even think she noticed there was anything different about the person holding her -- that s/he was enclosed in a big, furry suit with giant ears. She was too busy checking out all the other BX goers - who knows why they were there if it wasn't for the EB (probably because it was a Saturday after payday but whatever).
Here are two pictures that Dan snapped; the AFN radio station on island was the one who was hosting the Easter bunny. The event was donation only - so nice not to have to pay an obscene amount of money with a fictional holiday character.
