On Friday evening we had plans to help our friends Mike and Krissi move from their apartment to a nice American-style home. They hadn't called us yet by 6:30 or 7:00PM so we thought maybe they didn't need help that night and continued to try to placate a cranky Schmoopybear. We also got Dexter up and running on Netflix and were getting ready to start an episode when Dan's phone rang. No Dex for us, I was bummed.
Evelyn and I didn't go with Dan because she was being a grumpypants but he helped them for a good two and a half hours. He came home and we were already in bed.
Saturday we woke up, hung around the house, and then went to their apartment again (all three of us this time) to help them. I had Ev in the Moby so I just helped pack up their kitchen things while Dan and Mike did all the heavy lifting. Up six flights of stairs. Y-u-c-k.

We then went to their new house and sat on their couches (that a moving company had transported, thank goodness) to relax. We had a little lunch, watching a bit of a movie, then Dan and Mike went back for the remaining items. I stayed with Krissi at the house but felt pretty helpless; she was putting items away in the kitchen but how do you tell someone to help you put things away when you're not sure how you'd like them, you know?
We left sometime after 6:30 after someone (I won't name any names) started crying. Dan sat in the back with that certain someone while I drove and she fussed almost the whole way home. The legal limit for drinking is so low here that while you may not be drunk after one drink, you would probably blow a number on their breathalyzer that would get you arrested. Eek!
Dan and Mike had had one beer each so I drove otherwise I usually hang out in the back with her when she's fussy. Dan is much better at keeping his cool and not becoming frazzled when she cries. I'm...not so good at that. It's a struggle for me to decide whether to keep driving and let her keep crying or try to find someplace to park to try to make her happy. Usually I keep driving because as soon as you take her out of her carseat, she's happy so there isn't anything truly wrong. Little stinker.
Anyhow, we made it home and watched some Dexter, then went to bed. If you're wondering, Dexter is our new TV "obsession", if you want to call it that. We've started with Season 1 and are onto Season 2 now.
Sunday morning we were planning on going to church but I didn't sleep well the night before and had a splitting headache. It hurt to move my eyes to the left or the right so I wanted to stay home. Dan found some Tylenol...in a place I had already looked but obviously glanced over it. Duhhh Raechel. Anyway, I took a Tylenol and hung out in bed a bit longer.
Dan came to wake me up and then he took a nap as Ev and I went downstairs. He had been up with her, hanging out, most of the morning. After his short nap we went on base for his weekly haircut.
I was supposed to have a lesson yesterday afternoon with Eve but I just wanted to come back home after our errands and veg with my family. I wasn't feeling 100% and plus it was cold, I didn't want Ev hanging out in 55* weather even though she'd be snuggled up close to her Dad in the Bjorn.
DISCLAIMER: I know that 55*F isn't truly cold and I feel bad for saying it is as many of you in the States that are reading this are dealing with single digit temperatures or possibly even below 0 temps. I've acclimated and become a little wuss so no 55*F with fairly strong winds is chilly to me.
If I was back home and it was 55*F after typical cold winter temperatures I'd probably be outside in a tshirt but now that we live on an island, 55*F is zip-up jacket and jeans weather.
Anyway, back to our weekend. We went on base for his haircut. He grabbed a number and we had quite a long time to wait so we went to grab something to eat then looked around the hardware store to pass time.
Yesterday something monumental happened. Well, monumental for our little family of three. We switched Ev's position in the Bjorn from facing our bodies to facing outwards. It feels so strange that she's already able to face out towards the world like a big girl to take in all the sights. Goodness gracious.
We went to the commissary for our grocery needs and spent quite a bit of time looking for the Velveeta cheese. How in the world are you supposed to make homemade mac&cheese if you don't have Velveeta? Yeah, well we didn't find it despite scouring all the aisles.
We came home and had a Dexter marathon and gave Little Miss a bath when it was close to her bedtime. Then we snuggled her up nice and tight in her SwaddleMe, she had a before bedtime snack, and I stood and rocked her while we had our eyes glued to the drama and suspense that is Dexter. Dan's favorite character is Masuka but I'm not sure who mine is.
Well, my favorite little lady woke up from her little cat nap so I suppose I'll go let Toby out and then we'll play for a bit. When I come back to update next, I'll have to tell you the gross thing that Toby did. Yuck. I knew dogs do gross things but not my dog...
