Hello, 2011!

At one point early into our new year, everyone in the States was separated from us by a decade. Isn't that preposterous? It is just positively mind-boggling. Now we're all in the same decade again and I want to know: how did you celebrate? What did you enjoy most in 2010 and what are you looking forward to most in this new decade?

We spent the early part of yesterday morning relaxing then ran errands on base. Later that afternoon Dan went and hit some balls at the driving range while Ev, Toby, and I went on a two-mile jaunt. We went beyond our normal route and discovered we are very close to the zoo and museum. That is great -- an easy walk with Squeaker on an afternoon field trip.

When the four of us returned home I made spinach & artichoke dip for the NYE party we were going to later in the evening. I only made one batch though I was fixing to make two...that is until I dropped the second container of cream cheese straight into the garbage, nestled in between wet diapers. Yum! Not!

We got primped and ready to go. The wind was ri-dic-ulous; it made the evening at least 10 degrees cooler than it would have been otherwise. Krissi and her husband were planning on having the party up on the roof but instead we spent the evening inside, in their nice, warm apartment. Thank goodness my friend Rachael sent us this precious bear outfit otherwise she would have nothing to keep her warm. On our way up and into their apartment I covered her with my Columbia jacket while she was snuggled in the Bjorn against my chest.

Evelyn was the hit of the party, even the men were gathered around her, touching her little head and playing with her delicate hands. We left a little after eleven because our special little someone was beginning to get testy. She had been awake for most of the time we were there and even gave Krissi a couple smiles. That was the first time she smiled at someone other than Daniel or I. Milestone - check, write it in the books! Well, blog.

We had a quick kiss at midnight while Evelyn had her midnight meal and then one by one fell asleep. Dan first, Ev second, Toby third, and I caught the train to sleepy town last.

Our first day in 2011 has been low-key and relaxing. I Skyped with my Grandparents, aunt, and uncle, then napped on and off throughout the afternoon. Little Miss and her Pops spent some quality time together. Dan made spaghetti for supper which was delicious. Now the two littlest members of our household are flanking me on the couch while I watch NCIS: LA.

We're hoping the weather is kind to us tomorrow so we can spend some time outside. The three of us want to walk while Dan works on his swing. How we will spend the rest of the weekend is not completely known but we will be making a visit to the commissary to stock up our fridge and cupboards and there will be some new blog posts poppin' up on Our Island Outlook. Be sure to stop back to see some new pictures of the cutest baby on Okinawa, our recap of 2010, and goals for 2011.
