All the photos I've shared in this entry have been edited by a cool app by the name of "instagram". It's available for iPhones, which we do not have, but I've been making it work with my iPad. I can put my memory card into the Apple memory card reader and then transfer the pictures onto the iPad. It's a lot of fun. Dan is playing Scrabble on the 'Pad as we speak.
I feel quite silly saying this but it felt
cold today on our little island. Right now it is 55* according to weather.com but I think what makes it feel extra chilly is the strong winds. Being from the Midwest we know and remember what the true meaning of cold (I think I remember better than Dan since I experienced a Midwestern winter last year and he did not but I know he hasn't forgotten) is but once you're acclimated, 55* with strong gusts and a little spittle of rain feels...Well, cold. I'm sorry to say that to those of you who are reading this while your part of the earth is covered in snow and ice.
We Skyped with my Mom and sister, then with Dan's Mom this morning. After Skyping we went to the AF base and ate at Chili's. I had a frozen strawberry margarita and it was d-e-l-i-c-i-o-u-s. We went to the Exchange to look for golf clubs for Dan (my Grandpa got him hooked) but there was barely any parking to be found. We decided to go to the Marine base that is near the AF base and look for clubs there.
We were successful in our club hunt. He got some clubs and tees. The clubs were part of his Christmas gift but I had no way to smuggle them into the house without him seeing them plus I wasn't sure what type of golf club is best...so he got to pick them out himself. We came home and Dan fed Little Miss a bottle while I "pump and dump"ed.
The Okinawa Zoo is doing a Christmas light show the 23rd-28th and ends each show with fireworks. I think I can hear some of the fireworks starting now, we live pretty close to the zoo. We were going to go tonight but decided not to. We have two more nights that we'll be able to go so hopefully the weather will cooperate one of those nights.
After Little Miss had her bottle she hung out with her Dad while I went upstairs to take a nap. After I woke up Dan went to the driving range near our house and hit a bucket of balls. Yes, we live within walking distance of a driving range. Handy, huh? We also live right across the street from a sport park, complete with a batting cage, a few other games outside, and then pool and ping-pong inside.
When Dan got home he made us bison burgers in our fish grill that is part of our oven. Y-U-M! They were delectable. We watched Toy Story 3, played with Evelyn, and now will be going up to bed. We're excited to Skype with his sister tomorrow.
How was your Christmas? What was the best part?
