Her weight check went well. Two minutes or so before they called us to go back there, I heard a distinct noise that left me know she had just made a dirty diaper. I hoped that we didn't have to take her diaper off to weigh her and kicked myself for not bringing the diaper bag in.
Thankfully Dan came to the rescue. He was at the company office signing his paternity paperwork and walked to the clinic. He went to go get the diaper bag and we swiftly changed her diaper. Then we took it off again because the nurse said we should weigh her naked. Thankfully she didn't go to the bathroom on the scale. :)
With her dirty diaper, Evelyn weighed 6lbs 14oz, which is a big gain from the 6lbs 8oz she weighed Friday night in the middle of the night when they took her to weigh her. (She was 6lb 12oz when she was born, remember, but I guess babies usually lose a bit of weight right after they are born.) Bare butt nakey she was back up to 6lbs 12oz! The nurse calculated that it was a 1.1% increase which she said was "great".
After her appointment, we went to the company office again. Dan's unit pitched in and got us a beautiful bouquet of flowers with a "It's a girl!" balloon and a very generous gift card. I think we'll probably buy a bathtub for future bath endeavors and I haven't mentally spent the rest of it yet.
Our day has been laid back for most of the day, except during the noon hour. It is really nice to have Dan home, I'll miss him a lot when he has to go back to work on the 1st. Evelyn will, too. She's laying by him on the couch right now.
We had a big diaper disaster around noon. Evelyn had made it clear that she went to the bathroom but I said, "Let's wait a bit to let her go more and then we'll change her." Once she ate a snack I decided to change her either though Dan was going to because I wanted him to be able to enjoy his oatmeal.
She hadn't done anything else in her diaper from the first time we took a peek but all of a sudden there was a massive explosion. I'm trying to approach this matter delicately and while trying to respect her situation so she isn't completely appalled when she's older and someone says, "Your mom blogged about the time you pooped all over." There isn't really any way to state this in a delicate manner, though. It was intense.
I screeched. Dan asked, "What happened?" and thought I had dropped her. He came around the corner to the office where I was changing her in the chair (I was working on this entry at the time) and yelled, "WHOA!" He went to get paper towels and she had another little episode. Thankfully I scooped her up quick before it went back onto her pajamas.
I took her into the shower room to wash her off while Dan assessed the damage and cleaned it up. I had got her all tidied up when she peed on me. So we restarted the washing process. And that is our first diaper explosion experience. Good thing it came early to get it over with. I promise I won't ever blog about it again, it was just humorous to us after it was all said and done.

Its on of the big 3 that baby's do Raech. Eat Sleep and......
ReplyDeleteEric - She does all those things very well, haha. Too bad you aren't here to help change dirty diapers! :P Grandparents are supposed to really want to do that, right?
